CHS welcomes new staff for September '22

CHS is pleased to welcome Emily Garcia, Margot Moser and James Tolj.

Emily Garcia joins the Office of Student Services as an academic adviser for the Department of Kinesiology. Emily graduated from Christopher Newport University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and received her master's degree in counselor education from VCU. Prior to VCU, she worked for seven years as a high school counselor.

Outside of work, Emily loves to travel, hike, run, attend sporting events and explore Richmond.

Margot Moser joins the Department of Political Science as the new office manager. Margot received her B.A. in English and M.A.T. in secondary education from James Madison University. She previously worked for the Rappahannock Emergency Medical Services Council in Fredericksburg and has nine years of administrative experience.

Outside of work, Margot enjoys reading, hiking and acting in community theater productions.

James Tolj joins the Office of Student Services as an academic adviser for the Department of Biology. James graduated from the College of William and Mary with a bachelor's degree in history and master's degree in colonial history. His research focused on legal and social connections between indentured servitude and slavery in colonial Virginia. 

James has worked with the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, in Special Collections at the Earl Gregg Swem Library, and as an adjunct history instructor at Brightpoint Community College. Most recently, James was the Advanced Placement history teacher and social studies department chair at KIPP Pride High School.
