What brought you to VCU?

I was brought to VCU by the opportunity to work in athletics as the director of the Ram Athletic Fund. I came to the College of Humanities and Sciences in March 2022 to work as the officer of annual giving. One of the reasons I wanted to come to VCU was the opportunity to work at a larger institution that serves a more diverse student population.

Can you describe what you currently do in your role at VCU? What does your day-to-day look like?

I conduct outreach to alumni and donors of the College of Humanities and Sciences, and engage with them to find out what areas they would like to philanthropically support. An additional part of my role is to oversee VCU’s Giving Day efforts for the College, our 24-hour university-wide fundraising event. (It’s May 3 this year.) Giving Day provides an opportunity to get as many people as possible to support and promote awesome programs we have in the College.

"I am passionate about finding ways for alumni to stay connected to their alma mater and ways alumni can give back to support current and future students."

Tell us about the things you are most passionate about.

I am passionate about finding ways for alumni to stay connected to their alma mater and ways alumni can give back to support current and future students. In our development operation, we do a lot of outreach to alumni and donors to figure out the best way for them to be engaged with us.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Being a year away from finishing my Ed.D. from VCU’s School of Education while working full time. My Ed.D. is a way for me to learn more about higher ed, and have educational discussions with other higher ed professionals.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people?

Outside of work and school, my biggest area of interest is food. I love the creativity in cooking and I love hosting people for dinner. I also enjoy trying all of the restaurants that Richmond has to offer!
