The College of Humanities and Sciences announced a modification to its administrative structure and the existing roles within the office of the dean.
Dr. Amy Rector will now serve as Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, with responsibility for all aspects of faculty affairs (promotion and tenure, professional development, faculty leave, summer camps, etc.) across all academic units in the College of Humanities and Sciences. Dr. Rector will assume responsibility for leading the existing faculty fellow within this domain. The College will also be seeking two new faculty fellows for faculty affairs as well as special interest projects that would report to Dr. Rector.
Dr. Marcus Messner, previously Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs, Humanities and Social Sciences, will now serve as Executive Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Academic Affairs. This new role will consolidate the responsibilities of academic affairs, with the added scope of leading CHS strategic initiatives including but not limited to: creating innovative curriculum – including revising general education courses, expanding the CHS career-readiness curriculum and online programs, and coordinating additional interdisciplinary minors – developing lecture series, leading program productivity analysis, facilitating further CHS structural repositioning, and leading the strategic planning process.
To advance these responsibilities, Dr. Messner will assume responsibility for leading the team of existing faculty fellows whose responsibilities fall within these domains.
The responsibilities and scope of the remaining associate deans remain unchanged although Dr. Darcy Mays’ title is now Senior Executive Associate Dean for Administration and Analytics. Corey Moore continues to serve as Associate Dean for Enrollment and Student Success and Dr. Angela Reynolds as Associate Dean for Research. The College will be seeking a new faculty fellow for research that would report to Dr. Reynolds.
