CHS welcomes new staff this winter

CHS is pleased to welcome Anna Lacy, Greg Miller, Kaitlyn Coogan Miller, Rachael Savage, Cole Wasdin, Michi Gardner, Corey Martin and Lauren Wick

Michi GardnerMichi Gardner joins the College of Humanities and Sciences as the administrative coordinator for both the Department of Kinesiology and the Department of Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies. They come to Monroe Park Campus from the MCV Campus where they worked as the senior administrative assistant for the Office of the Dean at the School of Medicine. 

Michi is also a triple VCU student; they received their B.A. in political science, their M.A. in English and they are pursuing their Ph.D. in Media, Art and text. Outside of work and school, they are a fan of all things sci-fi and fantasy, and enjoy spending time reading on the couch with their cat Darcy curled up on their lap. 


Anna LacyAnna Lacy joins the College of Humanities and Sciences as a senior academic advisor in the Department of Forensic Science. Most recently, Anna worked as the undergraduate program manager for the University of Maryland Department of Family Science. She also previously served as a transfer academic success advisor for the Old Dominion University College of Engineering. 

Anna holds a B.S. in psychology from James Madison University and an M.Ed. in student affairs administration in higher education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Anna grew up in Richmond and is thrilled to be back in the city. Outside of work, Anna enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and traveling. Her cats, Milo and Lucy, also love to make cameos in her Zoom advising appointments.


Corey MartinCorey Martin joins the College of Humanities and Sciences (again!) as the executive assistant to the chair and office manager in the Department of Psychology. Corey previously worked in the Department of Psychology from 2012 to 2023 in a variety of roles, and left to join Faye Belgrave, Ph.D., in the Division of Inclusive Excellence from its reopening in 2023 until its closure in 2025. Corey is thrilled to be back with the College of Humanities and Sciences. 

Corey received his B.A. in art history from VCU in 2012. Outside of work, he enjoys listening to music, reading, painting, photography, movies and film critique, and cats.


Greg MillerGreg Miller joins the College of Humanities and Sciences as an academic advisor in the Robertson School working with mass communication majors concentrating in public relations or journalism. Previously, Greg was a discovery advisor working with undeclared students in University Academic Advising at VCU. He also held roles in residence life and case management at institutions including, but not limited to, American University, Longwood University, and University of North Carolina at Asheville. 

Greg holds a B.A. in communication studies from Christopher Newport University and an M.Ed. in higher education leadership with a concentration in student affairs administration from Old Dominion University.

Greg is originally from Reston, Virginia, but has been loving living in Richmond for the past six years. Outside of work, Greg spends his time with his wife, daughter, and dog while exploring Richmond. When not spending time with the family, Greg can be found playing drawing, writing, or playing ice hockey.


Kaitlyn MillerKaitlyn Coogan Miller joins the College of Humanities and Sciences as a grants research administrator within the Department of Psychology. Prior to joining the department, Kaitlyn spent nearly 15 years in the international development sector managing USAID grants and projects around the world.

Kaitlyn holds a B.A. in international studies with a focus in international development and the Middle East from American University.

Outside of work, Kaitlyn loves to garden, read, cook, and enjoy the outdoors with her daughter. She is a grower at heart and wants to expand her family’s aspiring homestead with as many fruits and vegetables as she can.


Rachael Savage on a zipline in the woodsRachael Savage joins the College of Humanities and Sciences as the operations manager of the Rice Rivers Center. Prior to joining CHS, Rachael worked at Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD, in facilities as the recycling coordinator, where she managed sustainability education and outreach programs, as well as developed and launched a successful, free secondhand shop on SU’s campus.

Rachael holds a B.S. in biology from Salisbury University, a B.S. in environmental science from University of Maryland Eastern Shore and a M.S. in environmental biology from Hood College. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with her family.


Cole WasdinCole Wasdin joins the College of Humanities and Sciences as the assistant coordinator of the VCU Humphrey Fellowship Program (housed in the Department of Psychology), bringing leadership development expertise and an established connection to the program's mission. For the past four years, Cole has served as a volunteer friendship family, supporting fellows from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East as they transition to life in the United States.

Cole has spent over a decade working at the intersection of organizational development, change management, and leadership training. As founder and CEO of Verity Consulting and Gallant Consulting, she has facilitated workshops on cross-cultural communication, trust-building, and leadership challenges while guiding organizations through complex transitions and cultural change. She is a Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) and holds certifications in Data Driven Change Management. Cole earned her Bachelor of Science in sociology from Texas Christian University.


Lauren WickLauren Wick joins the College of Humanities and Sciences as a data manager for Rice Rivers Center. Prior to this role, Lauren participated in the NASA DEVELOP program where she partnered with organizations to help them learn more about using geospatial data to accomplish their goals. She enjoys making complex data more accessible through visualizations and effective scientific communication.

Lauren holds a B.A. in statistics and philosophy from the University of Virginia and an M.S. in environmental observation and informations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

In her free time, Lauren likes knitting, both by hand and on a vintage flat-bed knitting machine. In the warmer months, she enjoys hiking, biking, and camping.
