Hiring Information

Hire Requests and Recruitment

Anytime there is an expectation of payment for work, Human Resources needs to be notified prior to the start of work in order to ensure the individual is hired and compensated appropriately.

Hire requests should be submitted using the CHS Human Resources Dashboard

Some hires require recruitment. The appropriate HR staff member will work with the department on any recruitment requests.

New Hire Process

Any new hire or terminated rehire (non-benefited employees are automatically terminated if they have not clocked in or worked after a certain amount of time) must complete the new hire process which includes:

  • Background check (fingerprinting may be required depending on the position)
  • I-9 verification
  • New hire paperwork

The department’s Human Resources Coordinator (HRC) or Human Resources Associate will work with the employee to complete the new hire process.

Please note that it can take up to 10 business days for new hires to be processed after the new hire process is initiated. New hires may not begin working until the new hire process is completed.

Suggested start dates are the 10th or 25th of the month as these are the first dates of the pay period.

Rehiring Active Employees or Adding an Overload Job

Non-benefited employees who already have a non-benefited position or have not been terminated do not need to go through the new hire process (although a new background check may still be required).

Departments still need to notify their HRC when rehiring an active employee or adding an overload job as the employee must still be hired into the position.
