Belgrave to receive Presidential Medallion

The Presidential Medallion is a high honor bestowed by VCU and is awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions by a member of the university community. The award recognizes extraordinary achievement in the world of learning and dedication to VCU as evidenced by a series of outstanding contributions to several areas of university life.

At this year's May Commencement, Faye Belgrave, Ph.D., associate dean for equity and community partnerships, will receive this honor. Belgrave is an internationally recognized author, teacher, researcher and equity advocate who joined the VCU faculty in 1997 as a professor of psychology. In 2002, she founded the Center for Cultural Experiences in Prevention to bring together university and community partners to conduct culturally competent research and implement programs that reduce racial disparities in health. She has decades of work in equity and education which she brings to her current role in the College of Humanities and Sciences.
