Hughes has developed more than 20 exhibitions for The Valentine, many of which were co-curated with community members and organizations.

Meg Hughes is director of collections and chief curator at Valentine Museum. She leads the museum’s collection team and curates its archival holdings, including books, manuscripts, prints, photographs, ephemera, research library and institutional records. Hughes has developed more than 20 exhibitions for The Valentine, many of which were co-curated with community members and organizations.

Hughes has an A.B. in history from Princeton University, an MSI in information (archives and records management) and a certificate in museum studies from the University of Michigan. Following work experiences at Princeton, Yale and the University of Michigan, Hughes joined The Valentine in 2004. She is a member of the Leadership Metro Richmond Class of 2018.
