YOU MAKE IT REAL

Bethanie Constant

As an employee of the VCU College of Humanities and Sciences you are one of the most important advocates for the university and you make a difference every day.

I, along with countless others, are grateful for your commitment to our students, community, fellow faculty and staff through your time, talents and expertise, and for your consideration of supporting something that is meaningful to you with the gift of your financial support.

I give to the College too. I know our students need encouragement and financial support and I was a student who depended on scholarship support, so I give to the CHS general scholarship fund through a payroll deduction.

Giving to VCU, or any organization you care about, is very personal. While we hope you will consider a gift meaningful to you, participation in the employee giving campaign is voluntary. Many faculty, staff and retired employees choose to support students, while others make gifts to initiatives that support lectures, professional development or other important avenues of scholarship.

Sometimes VCU will publish stories about donors and the difference their gift made (after getting permission), or a full list of all donors. If you would like to remain anonymous, please be sure to check that box on the giving form or contact me directly. No matter what your preference for anonymity is or not, your supervisor will not be given a list of those who participated in the campaign. The system in which gifts are recorded is secure and limited to those in development fields who have signed a confidentiality agreement.

If you would like to support an area you are passionate, you have a few options:

You can make a gift to the College of Humanities and Sciences general fund, or restrict your gift to an area of your preference. To restrict your gift to a school/department/program, use the first drop-down menu and select your preference, or select 'Other' and then type your restrictions.

Make a gift with a debit or credit card

You will need to use your eID login and password if you are not already logged in. If you would like to restrict your gift to a school/department/program, use the first drop-down menu and select 'Other.' Then in the second box, type the school/department/program. A payroll deduction can be changed or stopped at any time. If you need assistance with this let me know.

Make a gift through payroll

If you wish to make a gift via check, make your check payable to the VCU Foundation and write your restrictions on the memo line (for example, College of H&S, or Dept of XYZ). Mail via USPS or hand-deliver your check to the address at the bottom of this page. We are also happy to come by your home or office to pick it up.

If you wish to make arrangements through gift planning, including retirement plan assets, life insurance, or gifts through your will or other, please contact me to discuss options that may best benefit you/your heirs and the university.

Your gift is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Many thanks to you, our faculty and staff, who have already made a gift commitment!

Thank you again for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Bethanie Constant

P.S. The IRS frowns upon donating to funds in which you directly administer, for example Dr. Smith giving to the Dr. Smith Research Fund. If you have a question about this, I am happy to talk it through with you.
